Our Mission

Founded in 1998, the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA) is an initiative to encourage and facilitate teaching and learning about East Asia in elementary and secondary schools across the United States. For over 16 years, the Tennessee NCTA (TNNCTA) has joined this national network of institutions with the goal of providing on-site seminars, teacher resources, and travel funding that empowers Tennessee teachers to bring East Asia into their classrooms.

Resources

If you are an educator teaching about East Asia – at any level from elementary school through high school, we are excited to share that we are in the process of developing a comprehensive resources page designed for you! Our goal is to provide access to informative primary sources, organized curriculum, extensive resource collections, and other classroom materials that bring East Asia and Asian Americans into your classroom. While our resources page is still a work in progress, we encourage you to explore the educational materials available on NCTA's website, including the seminars, short courses, and workshops featured on their Programs page. Check back soon for updates as we continue building this valuable resource!
